NGO Public Relations & communications

Public-Facing Reports • Published Features • Earned Media • Brand Publications
During her time as the contract grant writer for the CV Arts Council, the Executive Director and I worked closely with Nicole Trigg. Nicole’s strategic writing skills, budget development assistance, dependability, high standards of work, insight into funder requirements, and timely final reporting led to over a 95% success rate. This increase in funding provided the organization with the ability to develop and expand existing programming, diversify revenue streams, hire a part-time staff person, and increased the reputation of the organization in the community.

Lisa Zavitz, CV Arts Council Board President (2015 to 2021)

public-facing reports

I specialize in transforming dense scientific content into clear, engaging, and accessible reports. Working closely with graphic designer Ignite Creative on these three reports, I restructured draft content and helped shape the design to effectively showcase complex information for target audiences. Collaborating with program managers, I ensured each report not only met but exceeded expectations in readability, flow, and impact.
Foreshore Integrated Management Planning for Aquatic Species at Risk. 2024.
National Lake Blitz Volunteer Monitoring Summary Report Years 1-3. 2024
High Elevation Monitoring in the Columbia Basin: Pilot Year Summary Report. 2023

published features

Below are three examples where I identified key opportunities for feature articles and managed the process from inception to publication, liaising with top-tier publications in the water stewardship sector. In these examples, I also authored or co-authored articles that elevated Living Lakes Canada’s profile, reaching a broad audience of stakeholders, funders, and followers while reinforcing the organization’s leadership in water stewardship.
Democratizing Watershed Data. Water International. 2024.
The Need for Monitoring. Ground Water Canada Magazine. 2022
The Quality of our Water (p10). Water Canada Magazine, 2020.

Through targeted press releases and media outreach, Living Lakes Canada’s initiatives were showcased to a national audience, strengthening the organization’s visibility and impact in the water stewardship sector.

BRAND PUBLICATIONS

I develop content strategies and lead production teams to create impactful brand publications. These three examples — Living Lakes Canada’s annual digital impact report, newsletter (this particular issue achieved a 58.8% open rate), and a multimedia Youth Perspective column series featuring embedded audio for Indigenous language elements — demonstrate my ability to guide the creation of compelling content that enhances engagement and storytelling.
