Nicole has been an invaluable partner on many of my large-scale web projects. Her ability to manage, organize, and edit complex and large-scale content has greatly benefited both myself and my clients. She ensures each client receives the attention they deserve, delivering well-researched, expertly written pages and articles. Her work is not only high-quality, but she takes care to format the content for website integration, making the entire process smooth and efficient. Nicole’s professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence make her an asset to any project.

opinion pieces

As Communications Director and Government Liaison for Living Lakes Canada, I have authored and co-authored opinion pieces published at the regional, provincial, and national levels. The examples below effectively demonstrate timely relevance and a compelling call to action — key elements of impactful opinion writing.
Opinion: Investing in watershed security. BC Watershed Security Coalition, 2024.
Opinion: Feds Must Keep Promises on Water. The Hill Times, 2022.
Opinion: Empowering B.C. communities to protect their local watersheds. Castanet, 2021.

public engagement

Through blogs, announcements, and press releases, I have expertly crafted messaging designed to inspire awareness and encourage meaningful engagement with environmental issues. These three examples showcase how storytelling and strategic communication can foster environmental stewardship, connecting audiences to key initiatives.
Captíkwl guides Nicola Lake survey to improve foreshore health. Merritt Herald, 2024.
A new era for freshwater protection in Canada. EKNOW, 2023.
Wolverine research in the Kootenays boosted by citizen science. Trail Times, 2020.

magazine features

In a past chapter of my career, my freelance writing appeared in various magazines and special publications. I built an extensive freelance portfolio from 2010 - 2012. As a self-employed consultant from 2017 - 2022, I occasionally took on a magazine feature assignment simply for the love of the medium and the creative freedom it offers. Here are three of my favourite features.
Rogers Pass Winter Permit Violations Cause Concern. Revelstoke Mountaineer Magazine, 2018.
A Perch Above the Rest: Osprey Observations. Kootenay Living Magazine, 2017.
Secrets of the Lil'wat Medecine Man (p28). Mountain Life: Coast Mountains, 2011.
